Strobing: a marketing trick or new technique?

Hey Girls,

I see posts everywhere: shaping is out, strobing is in. What to think about this?

Is it just a marketing trick or some new technique?

What I understood from reading several articles on the internet is that strobing is about highlighting spots on your face where the light would naturally hit your face. It’s nothing more than making your skin glowy and therefore seems far more easy than shaping. No strict contouring is needed, just highlighting, which you can even do without a tool. Just your bare finger and some shimmer material will suffice. The result, when done right, will be a natural dewy look. But be careful with an extremely oily skin; it might end up looking oily rather than dewy.

For people with a dry to normal skin strobing is definitely suitable. Apply away!

Apply on:

Eyebrow bone

Cheek bones

Eye lid

Cupids bow

And yes, I do think that strobing is nothing more than a marketing technique. It’s nothing new. Just find that highlighter which you probably bought last summer and start strobing. It’s fun and very suitable during the summer.

I saw some nice products of Bobby Brown which are suitable for this summer hype.

But I also have found some old products in my drawer for highlighting my face. These save me a lot of money this summer: Brilliance powder tissues by Body Shop and Cool Effect by Maybelline (a little tube).

Talk soon again!

    Dear Van,

I really love your posts! I know that make-up and skincare has been your passion for years, but to see your blog blossom up so beautifully and with enthusiasm makes me excited!! I definitely try strobing as I find contouring very time consuming and complicated! Keep it up!
