I love to write about my favorite topic: How to make your own skincare. Remember, in April I posted how we made our own skincare at a bachelorette workshop. Today I will give you a review of my favourite homemade product:
Whipped body cream
I have used whipped body cream for some weeks now and I completely love it. Why? Well it’s 100% natural and this makes me feel good about using it. No colour, no preservatives or other chemicals. It is a very safe product which you can use wherever and whenever you want.
If I may quote from my previous blog post:

It is part of our modern lifestyle, where we are exposed to so many chemicals that exist all around us, from the air we breathe to the chemicals we use daily in our own homes. It comes with many benefits, but we also have to pay a big price for living in this toxic world. Our skin as our biggest organ deserves the best. I have already stopped using skin care with Parabens, instead using my home made skin care makes my skin feel healthier and more nourished. No Parabens, no other preservatives or chemicals, only natural ingredients!”
I use whipped body cream almost every day. I keep it in the fridge to keep it fresh and solid. When I go to shower I take it out and place it in the bathroom, as after I’ve showered the substance will have become softer and therefore perfect to use on my skin. However, when the weather is very hot, the substance turns into oil. I don’t see this as a problem, but I prefer a creamier consistency.
There are some pros and cons when it comes to this homemade product:
- It is 100% natural
- It’s extremely healthy for the skin
- The scent is very good
- It is also suitable as a massage oil
- It nourishes dry skin very well
- It had to be stored in the fridge, since I live in a warm county. If the temperature is cooler, you can store the product outside.
- It takes 10-20 minutes until it has been soaked into the skin, which may mean your clothing can become a bit greasy.
Coconut oil has a lot of benefits.
If I may just sum up a few:
- It contains a lot of anti-oxidants;
- It slows down aging;
- It contains a lot of vitamin E;
- It is very safe to use on small children and babies;
- It is a natural way of protecting your skin from free radicals.

Let me post the recipe as was mentioned in my older post again:
Place the coconut oil and essential oils together in a bowl, and then ‘whip’ the coconut oil for a few minutes with an electric hand whisk until you notice a fine creamy whipped texture.
What I love about fruity fragrances such as lemon grass and orange oil is that it largely takes away the typical scent of coconut. I almost ran out of my homemade whipped body butter so I have to make some new ones soon.
